Wise Words: Let Go Of The Past

let go of the past

Imagine this… you are swimming in the ocean and there are weights strapped to your ankles.  But you are unaware that the weights are there.  So you keep swimming, trying to get to shore, but it’s so difficult.  And you are so tired. And your destination just seems more and more impossible to reach.  And you don’t know why. Holding on to the past can have the same effect. It weights your thoughts down and makes it hard to move forward and reach your future destination. Don’t drag yourself down. Take the weights off your ankles and swim to shore! You can do it!

Wise Words: Value

One of the biggest crimes that we can commit against ourselves is undervaluing our own thoughts and ideas.  How many times have you had an idea and then thought, “No, that’s silly.”  In that one statement you have undervalued yourself and overvalued every negative thought you’ve ever had!  Believing in yourself and placing yourself in a position of high value in your own mind is the biggest favor you can do for yourself.  Once you start to treat yourself and your ideas as having high value, others will follow and treat you that way as well. Cheers to that!

Wise Words: Important to You

if its important to you

Ever notice how when you REALLY want something you manage to find your way right to it? Sometimes we spend a lot of time and energy chasing our own tails over something we don’t really want, but think we are supposed to want.  It’s always easy to create a distraction which takes us away from the things we actually do want. In the end, it’s important to pay attention to our own actions.  If you are making excuses and not getting to the end of the road, then maybe it’s not the right thing for you. Put it aside and spend time on the things that feed your soul and leave you feeling fulfilled and happy. You will find yourself being more productive overall, which will in turn lead to doing more of the things you actually want and moving your life forward! Nothing feels more wonderful than that!

Wise Words: Be Kinder

be kinder

So we can’t all be  great actors like Meryl Streep … BUT we can all do a little pretending every once in a while.  Sometimes pretending to feel a certain way can lead to actually feeling that way!  Have you ever noticed that being around happy people makes you feel happier?  You want to fit in so you smile a bit, laugh a bit, and, POOF, next thing you know you are actually happier than when you started.  And it can work the opposite way too, if you are around negative people you can start to feel more negative as a result.  So be the leader!  Act kind and happy, even if you aren’t feeling it 100%.  You might be surprised by the results.  You might actually bring yourself, and others, UP to a better place!

Wise Words: Be Nice To Yourself

be nice to yourself

When you are UP, it’s easy to stay UP.  When you are DOWN, it’s easy to stay DOWN.  So why not aim to stay UP as much as you can?!  Often times we are our own worst enemy, our own harshest critic.  When we sit and pick at ourselves, and point out all of the negative, then we keep ourselves DOWN and unhappy.  Because how can you be happy if someone is constantly telling you negative things about yourself? Especially when that someone is YOU! So be kind to yourself, say nice things to yourself when you look in the mirror, and bring yourself back UP to a happy place! Only you have the power to change your own perspective!

Wise Words: Pick Wisely

inspire or drain

Have you every noticed that your mood can change depending on who you are with?  We all know those people who fill us with inspiration and excitement every time we are with them.  And we also know those people who seem to suck all the energy out of us.  Let’s call them, time burglars. The energy that you surround yourself with is so important because it can affect your mood which can lead to positive thinking or negative thinking… which in turn starts to determine productivity level and general outlook on life!  The more that you surround yourself with inspiring people, places, and things the more that you will feel inspired, happy, and positive! It might not sound easy, but in the end, watch how much easier LIFE gets….and feels.

Wise Words: If It Scares You…

if it scares you

Facing one’s fears is the hardest thing to do. And yet it is the most important thing to do.  Coming face to face with our own demons isn’t easy, but it’s necessary in order to move from one phase of life into the next.  The next time you come across something that is a little scary, try to confront it instead of turning away.  You might just find some peace and relief when all is said and done!

Skinny Tips: Coconut Oil Scalp Treatment

Coconut oil is so great for your hair! It moisturizes, nourishes, repairs, strengthens and boosts volume and shine! Basically, it’s an all in one hair must have!  We love this simple DIY Coconut Scalp Treatment that you can do at home tonight while you’re watching TV! So go ahead and give your hair a little nutty boost…

coconut oil scalp treatment

4 tablespoons coconut oil

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 tablespoon grapefruit juice

3 to 4 drops SkinOwl Argan Infusion (optional)

Start on dry hair, and it makes no difference if it is clean or not.  Starting on top, place the brush on the scalp, rotate it across the scalp while pressing down and pull off in the end.  Repeat across the scalp, parting hair where necessary.  This will stimulate the blood circulation and loosen any dry skin scales.  This should feel good, don’t press so hard that it hurts.

Next part the hair down the center and apply the oil mixture to the scalp with the application brush or cotton ball.  Work in one inch sections down the sides of the head, then the back making sure the mixture covers the entire scalp.

Now give your scalp  a good massage.  Rub with your fingertips in a circular motion all over the scalp.  Leave the treatment on for about 20 minutes.

Finish it off with a good shampoo and conditioner.
