Skinny Tips: DIY Lemon Sugar Face Scrub

As summer rolls in and the outside temperature rises, it’s important to exfoliate your skin in order to get rid of dead skin cells on the surface. Sloughing off dead skin and decongesting your pores will give back a healthy glow! As a result, we couldn’t resist sharing this simple and inexpensive Lemon Sugar Face Scrub that you can easily make at home!  Plus, you can swap out salt for sugar and turn into a body scrub as well!
The SkinOwl’s Tip: We love this trick! After exfoliating the skin, apply 5 drops of SkinOwl’s Argan Infusion in Lavender, Geranuim, or Clary Sage to the skin. Watch how the skin slurps up the product now that the pores are open and ready to receive! Cue the glow!

Skinny Tips: DIY Summer Leg Exfoliator

Summer is coming which means it’s time to show off your gorgeous gams!  Did you know that if you exfoliate before shaving you get a closer shave, therefore creating a silky smooth surface that is heaven to the touch? With summer at our heels, we are all about getting our legs sundress-ready with one of our favorite DIYs!  This easy leg exfoliator will take you just a few minutes to put together before your next bath or shower and you will definitely be pleased with the results!
summer leg exfoliator

1 1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup oil (You can use any oil you like including olive oil, coconut oil, baby oil, and yes, SkinOwl’s Argan Oil, etc.)
3 tablespoons citrus juice (lemon or lime)

Mix everything together in a container (we recommend something non-breakable and waterproof so that you can take it in the bath or shower with you).
Soak your legs in the tub for 5 minutes. Or if you’re taking a shower, wash and condition your hair first, then after your legs have had a chance to soak for a few minutes, apply the mixture to your legs and rub it in.

The abrasiveness of the sugar rubs off all the dirt and dead skin, the lemon juice works as a mild skin peel revealing brighter, smoother skin, and, of course, the olive oil penetrates deep into the skin and provides long-lasting moisture.

Rub the mixture all over your legs and let it sit for a few minutes, rinse, and REPEAT! Yep, do it again. Rub mixture all over legs (and feet!)…shave….and rinse again. This time you might want to use a mild soap to get some of the oil off. Or not. Your preference. (Note: make sure the bottom of the shower is oil-free when you are done so the next person in doesn’t get a slippery surprise!)
When you get out of the bath or shower, put lotion on and enjoy your silky smoooooooth legs!
