It’s going to be COOKING this weekend in Los Angeles. 106 on Saturday. 110 on Sunday. LA’s June Gloom is officially over, folks. SO, since my fiance is out of town this weekend, I’ve decided to take advantage of staying at home (literally AT HOME, i.e. in the house all weekend) and relax. It’s one of those rare weekends when I don’t have much to do and I have the time to make something from scratch. With my cycle starting a week from today, I’m craving something sweet. Cold and sweet. I took to Pinterest to find some tasty vegan ice cream options and there it was….MATCHA. VEGAN. MILKSHAKES. I swear the sky opened and Celine Dion’s voice came through. “You will make these milkshakes this weekend, sweet Annie. You will make them and you will love them.”
So…here. we. are. I’m shouting out to Love and Lemons, because I think I’m the last person to find out about this amazing food blog. WHERE HAVE I BEEN? Apparently, not making milkshakes for myself. But that ends today.
So, here’s the skinny. I love this recipe because it’s simple. I don’t have to churn anything like ice cream. And I finally have a reason to pull my Ninja our of the closet. Note, you can also just shake and stir, no ninja needed! Follow along with this vegan + gluten free recipe below:
Prep time
5 mins
Total time
5 mins
Serves: 1 shake
Ingredients
¼ cup Almond Breeze Almondmilk Original
1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon unsweetened matcha*
1-2 scoops vanilla ice cream (I used vegan coconut ice cream here, but use whatever you like).
Instructions
In a small bowl whisk your almond milk and matcha together. (Tip: If your matcha is lumpy, strain it with a tea strainer). You can use a regular whisk if you don’t have a cute match whisk. Add it to a jar with a scoop or two of ice cream. Shake it and stir it until it gets a little melty. Grab a mug (my favorite way to m-shake), put on a light robe, and cue re-runs of The Office. Don’t know where to start? Try Season 3, episode 7.
Thank you Jeanine and Jack from LoveandLemons for making this a super easy treat for the weekend ahead. If you guys have any fun recipes to share (easy and healthy), send ’em my way! Happy Fri-YAY!
xx
Annie
