Hello Owlettes! Today I bring to you another SkinOwl DIY! Just in case this is your first time reading one of our DIYs, here at SkinOwl, we like to highlight some of our products and their incredible ingredients by incorporating them into amazing, skin-loving DIYs. Today we’re highlighting cucumber!
Cucumber is found in our eye+, an ultra hydrating, age defying, fatigue reducing, eye brightener treatment that depuffs, firms, and moisturizes your eye area. Cucumber has high amounts of Vitamin C and caffeic acid. These two elements help to reduce inflammation, sooth, and hydrate the skin. This means cucumber is great for reducing puffiness around the eyes, epecially when chilled. This cooling effect can shrink the capilaries, small blood vessels under the skin’s surface, reducing the appearance of redness and puffiness around the eyes. Its antioxidants also help to repair the delicate eye area and further reduce redness often associalted with fatgue and little sleep.
If you have sensitive skin, cucumber is for you because it’s very soothing. Irritated, inflammed, and even sunburned skin can be calmed by this gentle hydrator. The cucumber’s antioxidants can also fight the signs of aging, such as wrinkles and sun damage. Its nutrients helping regenerate and repair the skin from damage.
Basically, cucumber is a little miracle ingredient which is why we include it in our eye+.
Brightening and Rejuvenating Cucumber Face Mask
What you’ll need.
1 small cucumber
2 tablespoons of greek yogurt (optional)
a blender or food processor
First, slice up your cucumber into large rounds, about 1/2 an inch (1cm) thick. Throw your sliced cucumber into a blender and blend until it becomes a fine puree. Pour out your cucumber puree into a small bowl. If it’s really runny, you can strain the juice from the pulp with a sieve. Don’t remove all the juice though because you can lose some of the skin-loving vitamins!
If you want, you can mix your cucumber puree with yogurt to thicken the mixture. This is totally optional. Here at SkinOwl, we like to keep our DIYs as vegan as possible, but if your cucumber mixture is too difficult to apply, try adding yogurt.
Next, apply the cucumber blend to your face and relax for 15 to 20 min. We recommend applying this in the bath because it’s really relaxing. Plus, this is a bit of a messy mask, so the more horizontal you can lay, the better! Finally, lay back and simply let the cucumber work its magic.
