SkinOwl DIY: Nourishing Sugar Scrub Cubes

SkinOwl DIY: Nourishing Sugar Scrub Cubes
As the cooler weather has begun to set in, many of us are making a few changes to our beauty regimen. One of my biggest changes is incorporating more body exfoliators more often. Being prone to dull and lackluster skin, especially on my arms and legs, as well as ingrown hairs (ouch!), exfoliating helps keep my skin looking bright and radiant and those pesky ingrown hairs at bay. I often gravitate to traditional body scrubs, but I thought I’d mix it up this year with a fun DIY. These Nourishing Sugar Scrub Cubes are so much fun to make and use! Their luxurious ingredients such as shea butter, olive oil, and our SkinOwl Body Oil, help to nourish and moisturize the skin, while essential oils help heal both our bodies and minds, helping us unwind. These little scrubbies are my go-to exfoliators now, especially for the bath.

How to Make these Nourishing Sugar Scrub Cubes

1/2 lb of Melt and Pour Glycerin Soap (usually about 1/4 a bar)
1/4 c Shea Butter
1/4 c Olive Oil
1/4 c SkinOwl Body Oil
Vitamin E oil (to prevent your oils and butters from going bad)
Essential Oil of Your Choice (We obviously selected from lavender, geranium, and clary sage to match our beauty drops)
1 1/2 c of Cane Sugar
Pigment for Color (I used an edible kind for cake decorating)
Assorted Sprinkles (totally optional, but they look really pretty)

Glass or Heat Proof Bowl
Measuring Cups
Silicon Mold

First, cut up your bar of Melt and Pour Glycerin Soap in small pieces. Melt soap in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval. When the soap is fully melted, mix in the shea butter, stirring until it melts. Then, add the olive oil and SkinOwl Body Oil. When the mixture has been fully combined and has cooled to lower than 40 degrees Celsius (estimate if you don’t have a thermometer), add a few drops of vitamin e and 10-15 drops of your essential oil of choice. Watch out! Because if your mixture is too hot, then the therapeutic value of your essential oils may be destroyed. Next, add in the coloring and mix well.

Then, incorporate your cane sugar. Do this quickly because your soap mixture will begin to set. Use a spatula to help knead the mixture until it’s cool enough to use your hands. Once the sugar is fully combined, press the doughy mixture into your silicone molds and leave out to set. You can put your molds into the freezer for thirty minutes to set your mixture faster.

Once the mixture has set fully, pop it out of the molds and slice into cubes. Place your cubes in a medium-sized bowl. Add your assorted sprinkles to the bowl and toss your cubes and sprinkles together to coat them. Finally, place your cubes in an airtight container.

To use, apply your Nourishing Sugar Scrub Cubes to wet skin. Rub in circular motions to exfoliate and reveal bright, new, moisturized skin.

I hope you enjoy making these fun little DIY Nourishing Sugar Scrub Cubes. I think that they are so much fun! The color and scent combinations are limitless, so get creative.
