If you feel like there’s still some loose ends that were overlooked while tidying up your life for the new year, Aquarius is here to help. On January 20th, the sun moved into the air sign of Aquarius. Aquarius is symbolized as the water bearer, and some say this is symbolic of the way an Aquarian can hold space for the emotions of others without taking those emotions on as their own. The structure that we may have thought we were bringing into our lives during Capricorn season may now seem a little too rigid and worth reevaluating to give back a little more freedom and fluidity into our day to day lives.
Aquarius loves innovation and originality. They are the friends that have the perfectly curated apartment that looks like a snapshot straight off of Pinterest. The month ahead will give us the perfect opportunity to reassess how we are moving forward in areas where we may feel like we are being too hard on ourselves or in areas where we may have felt uninspired to take innovative action.
While the sun is floating through free-thinking Aquarius, the moon will also join on the 24th for a New Moon in Aquarius. New Moons mark the beginning of a new cycle and are an opportunity for us to set brand new goals and intentions. The stylish socialite nature of Aquarius will focus our intentions on friendships, activities, and social pursuits, which is a refreshing break from Capricorn putting our focus on work and foundation-building for the past month. Now is a great time to take a step back and take a look at yourself from an outside perspective. Is the progress your making towards your goals sustainable? Are you allowing yourself enough time to heal from the day-to-day? How does your mental, physical, and emotional self truly FEEL throughout the new changes we’ve been making? Are you doing what you THINK is best for you or what’s ACTUALLY best for you?
On February 3rd, Mercury moves into imaginative Pisces. Mercury is the planet that rules logic, communication, and our thought processes. With the dreamy and wise nature of Pisces, we will be more attuned with and inclined to call upon our intuition during decision making. How does a potential outcome make you feel? What is your gut telling you? Our emotions will be taking the driver’s seat during this time but in a more empathic and soft manner as opposed to a reactive and heady nature.
Later that week on February 7th, the love planet Venus moves into divine masculine Aries. This may make us more comfortable with the idea of taking bold action in our relationships. Has the new colleague at the office caught your eye? This transit may have you feeling more confident to make a direct approach. In our relationships, it will be an energy of “saying it like it is,” and Venus in Aries has an attitude of childlike giddy towards the new possibilities at hand.
Two days later on February 9th, the Full Moon will be in Leo. There’s an air of celebration and entertainment! Leo loves to show off, and with the moon representing our mood and internal self, this may be a time to celebrate the fact that YES, we are STILL excelling in our new year’s resolutions! Pat yourself on the back, but the Aquarius sun is still here to remind you not to go TOO crazy as there is still work to be done.
A week later on the 16th, Mars enters disciplined Capricorn. Our instinct actions will be well thought out and non-impulsive. Our inner guidance and motivation should feel reliable and sustainable during this time. If there’s a project that has been waiting on the back burner to get completed, now is a great time to finish that up.
Lastly, also on the 16th, it’s that lovely time of year again – MERCURY RETROGRADE. Mercury will be moonwalking through Pisces for about three weeks. Mercury’s retrograde is a time where we may be forced to revisit lessons that we thought we overcame, but the question is – will we fall for the same mistakes again? With the intuitive nature of Pisces involved, we may be forced to look at our non-physical habits. How kindly to you speak to yourself? Have you been keeping up with your meditation practices? Pisces encourages us to think from a different perspective that’s rich with color and imagination, and throughout Mercury making us revisit old challenges, it’ll beg the question – will we get lost in the head fog, or will we use the creative nature of Pisces in addition to the innovative energy of the Aquarius sun to move beyond the tests and trickery that Mercury loves to throw at us?
Take a little extra time to keep your personal space cozy and inviting and keep a positive attitude – revisiting old lessons allows us the opportunity to overcome them in a completely different way, thus making us more well rounded and dynamic.
