It’s been three weeks since team SkinOwl touched down in Maui to celebrate Annie’s wedding! The wedding itself was beautiful and the island, a tropical paradise, but there was something else that really made this trip stand out.
What you may not have known is that we managed to get the whole team together for this trip. This doesn’t happen very often, so we’re pretty excited about it. We made tonnes of big plans for how we were going to explore the island, so I thought I’d share everything we did!
Day 1 | Jetlagging and Beach Lounging
We spent our first day lounging on the beach, sipping Mai Tais and planning out the rest of our trip. We spent hours splashing in the ocean, being beaten about by waves, while we all caught up on everything that had happened since March in Arizona. We left the water with pruned fingers and skin one shade redder, having decided to book a snorkeling trip to swim with sea turtles. We finished off the day with a traditional Hawaiian meal at a local restaurant.
Day 2 | Lahina and Snorkeling
The next morning we woke up early for a day on the water. With sunscreen and sunglasses in hand, we piled onto a boat for our snorkeling adventure. During our first swim, we were greeted by tropical fish and colorful coral, but it wasn’t until the second dive that we saw sea turtles, 7 to be exact! Between dives, we tracked down a pod of dauphins and watched them as they performed jumps, and spins, and twists for us. They’re such little show offs, but we loved every moment.
After docking back at Lahina, we slathered aftersun on our over-sunned bodies and headed to the Luau to celebrate Micah and Annie.
Day 3 | The Wedding
Since Annie and Micah’s wedding was in the evening, we decided to spend the day exploring Lahina. We visited the famous Banyan tree, the oldest banyan tree in Hawaii. Then we spend the rest of the morning walking along the boardwalk, searching for gifts for our families back home. Our favorite stop was a booth at the market selling hand carved wooden jewelry. Then we grabbed a bite to eat at Down the Hatch before heading back to the resort to get ready for the wedding.
Micah and Annie’s wedding took place on a beautiful cliffside on Kaanapali beach. The ceremony was very emotional, with tears being shed by the majority of the guests, team SkinOwl included. Therese even sang Annie down the aisle. Afterwards at dinner, we enjoyed heartfelt speeches and many laughs thanks to the attack of the cockroach!

Day 4 | Pool Lounging and More Snorkeling
Sunday we spent the day poolside, lounging, eating, and recovering from the festivities of the day before. Therese and Jasmine took advantage of the downtime to rent some snorkeling equipment and track down a few more sea turtles. As the day came to a close, we started packing our bags and joined the remaining wedding guests for one last dinner.
