When I first heard people saying they were making their own baby food, my first thought: how in god’s name am I going to find the time to do that? Let alone, learn. I immediately filed ‘making your own baby food’ with something ‘other people do.’ With so many amazing store-bought options, (and organic options) I figured that would be the easier approach, i.e. grab and go. But with food starting to go bad in the fridge (me too busy to freeze it or label it with the proper date) AND costing a pretty penny, the idea of making my own food has resurfaced. The wall I put up has come crashing down and I couldn’t be more grateful. Because now, I get to make Sunday my ‘batch’ day and not only am I saving money, but I have peace of mind (especially in this climate where the food stores are running out of baby food, a la coronavirus hysteria). With no one stocking up on perishable items, I’m able to grab them and then freeze my baby food! My ‘unreasonable, I know’ fear has subsided and Monty gets delicious, wholesome food. And I have a greater sense of pride.
And to make matters easier, I didn’t have to beat myself up for not knowing how to make baby food from scratch. There were millions of other people who could help pave the way on the internet! Below are a few of my favorite recipes that I discovered and wanted to share. Here are my favorite glass (and stackable) freezer friendly food storage containers as well. They fit in our freezer bag and stay super organized in our freezer/fridge. Try ’em out and let me know how you liked them!
