Happy first day of Spring everyone! It’s that time of year again, when the sun slowly starts to reemerge and we all start packing our bags for weekend getaways and Spring break trips. With all these bare arms and legs coming out to play, we’re often quick to realize how long winter truly was. During this time of year, I often find myself reaching for my fake tan and body butters to get my skin back in sun bathing shape. I mean we all want that healthy glow, right? For many of us, we’re also looking for that extra bit of confidence to help us enjoy our sunny days at the beach. That’s why I’m sharing my favorite DIY Cellulite Banishing Coffee Scrub! This recipe is perfect for Spring and Summertime as it helps fight scars, cellulite, and sun damage.
First off, we like to use upcycled coffee grounds in this recipe. Not only does this help eliminate waste, but it also helps you repurpose household food items that you’d normally throw away. Soothing coffee is also perfect for irritated skin as it’s packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals. Plus, it’s also not nearly as abrasive as normal scrubs with a base of salt, sugar, or walnut shell powder, so it’s perfect for sensitive skin. I can even be used on both the body and face. Also, the caffeine found in coffee helps stimulate blood flow, encouraging collagen production. It’s even thought that the caffeine in coffee helps to dilate blood vessels and tighten skin, thus hiding cellulite and skin dimples (at least temporarily).
In this recipe, courtesy of Hello Glow, I enjoy incorporating a little sea salt for extra scrubby and acne fighting goodness and some Vitamin E, which helps heal and fade scars. I also enjoy substituting pore-clogging coconut oil with three or four pumps of our SkinOwl Body oil. Our body oil enhances your skin’s natural radiance and visibly reduces the appearance of stretch marks, wrinkles and dark spots. Plus, it’s perfect for quenching tired, thirsty skin. Lastly, I also like to use this in the morning for a refreshing pick-me-up, so naturally, I enjoy incorporating a little bit of peppermint essential oil for it’s invigorating and awakening properties.
